Mousumi Das

Mousumi Das is trained as an economist, and currently working at Xavier University, Bhubaneswar as an Assistant Professor, Xavier University Bhubaneswar. She was earlier associated with Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), and the World Bank. She was a Visiting Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington DC as a Sylvia Lane Mentor awarded by the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA), US.

Her broader research interests are in the space of public policy focusing on food and nutrition, vulnerability, skills, and gender related issues with a strong interest in applied micro-econometrics. She is interested in exploring issues in India, China, Africa and Bangladesh. She has publications in the Journal of Development Studies, Oxford Development Studies, Economic and Political Weekly, China Agricultural Economic Review and Yojana. She was involved in the New Skills at Work Initiative (NSAWI) project housed at NCAER and funded by J.P. Morgan. She was recently awarded a Major Grant by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India on the topic – Pathways from Agriculture to Nutrition: Evidence from Indian Districts with special focus on Madhya Pradesh. She has presented in conferences in US, Canada, UK, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

She holds a doctoral degree from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) Mumbai in development studies.
