Banner investments by the Big Data Platform like GARDIAN and AgroFIMS are intended to help mobilize CGIAR data for new and exciting research and new pathways to changing food and farming systems worldwide.  The full potential of these data will not be realized without new and exciting data science.
In this session, we will provide a quick overview presentation (“What is data science?”) and the panelists will present their latest inspiring data science projects and discuss their potential applications in agriculture. Panelists will also discuss their most (and least) favorite data science techniques/technologies and give recommendations on what'd take to become a super data scientist.

As the session title suggests, the contents of this session will be presented in the most jargon-free way possible. Audiences are encouraged to alarm a jargon bell whenever further clarification is necessary.
