iHub is based at the ICRISAT’s headquarters in Hyderabad, a major hotbed of agritech startups and companies in India. This digital agricultural innovation platform was established to foster an ecosystem of collaboration between domain experts, software startups and entrepreneurs. It became evident that ICRISAT’s real comparative advantage in this domain was its ability to play a catalytic role in fostering the innovation ecosystem that could underpin digital led innovation in the small holder farming systems. Since Feb 2017, the ihub has incubated 16 digital agriculture startups that are each addressing a unique problem specific to agriculture, employing technologies ranging from computer vision to deep neural networks.
